The NIAMS intramural research program (IRP) conducts innovative basic, translational, and clinical research in a number of research areas. The world-class investigators, staff and trainees in the IRP work to gain new insights into the normal function of the immune system, bones, joints, muscles, and skin, and the diseases that affect them, and translate these insights into novel diagnostic tools and treatments. The IRP is supported by cutting-edge core facilities and interacts with the other intramural programs at the NIH, one of the premier sites in the world where biomedical research and clinical investigation are combined on one campus.
Training the next generation of researchers and clinical investigators in our areas of interest, including rheumatologists, dermatologists, and orthopaedic surgeons, is a major focus of the IRP, with training positions at many levels. We invite you to explore this site and learn about our research labs, clinical trials and training programs.
