NIAMS research has led to new discoveries in our understanding of the normal function of bones, joints, muscles, and skin, and the diseases that affect them. The NIAMS receives its budget from the U.S. Congress as part of the federal budget process through funding for the Department of Health and Human Services and the NIH.
