Summary
Siddhant Nagar received his B.S. in Medical Sciences from the University of Cincinnati. While at the University of Cincinnati, Siddhant worked under Dr. Douglas Millay at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to study the transcriptional regulation, localization, and functionality of novel genes clustered at the Neuromuscular Junction (NMJ). By using CRISPR/Cas-9 technology and Adeno-Associated Viral (AAV) transfection, he led research characterizing the function of Gramd1 genes in denervated skeletal muscle.
Currently, Siddhant works as a Postbaccalaureate Fellow in the Laboratory of Muscle Stem Cells and Gene Regulation at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), under the direction of Dr. Vittorio Sartorelli. He plans to pursue medical school after his tenure at the NIH, with a continued interest in the role of stem cells in disease.
