Summary
Shashank Hirani graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2025 with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a minor in Computer Science. From 2022 to 2024, he worked in Dr. Andrei Kuzminov’s laboratory, investigating the mechanism of action of phleomycin in E. coli. From 2024 to 2025, he worked in Dr. Paul Bonthuis’s laboratory, analyzing transcriptomic data across puberty and sex in mice to better understand genomic imprinting in the brain.
Research Statement
Shashank is working on an integrative genomic analysis of glucocorticoid responses across different doses and glucocorticoid molecules in human primary cells. His work involves a combination of bench experiments and bioinformatics analysis. The goal is to improve our understanding of the dose-response effects in primary CD4⁺ T cells and use this to inform glucocorticoid dosing in patients.
