Norio Hanata, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified rheumatologist (Japan College of Rheumatology) and a postdoctoral visiting fellow in the Systemic Autoimmunity Branch at NIAMS.

Dr. Hanata received his M.D. from Niigata University and his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo. After serving as faculty in the Department of Allergy and Rheumatology at the University of Tokyo, he joined NIAMS in 2021.

Research Statement

Dr. Hanata studies the pathogenic roles of neutrophils in systemic autoimmune diseases. His current work aims to understand the mechanisms of neutrophil-driven pathology.
