Summary
Nitin Sreekumar graduated from Brown University in 2025 with a B.S. in Biology, with a focus on Immunology and Computer Science. From 2019 to 2023, he worked in Dr. Nadia Carlesso’s lab at City of Hope, focusing on the effects of tumor microenvironment signaling in T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, particularly through the modulation of the NOTCH and IL-7 signaling pathways. At Brown, he joined Dr. Ece Uzun’s lab in 2023, where he created Varstack2, a variant interpretation tool for clinicians. Later, he helped develop a machine learning model to predict the recurrence of kidney cancer. Nitin joined NIAMS in 2025 as a postbaccalaureate fellow and works in Dr. Luis M. Franco’s lab.
Research Statement
Nitin’s research interests combine computational methods with experimental lab work to study immunological pathways in diseases. In Dr. Franco’s lab, he studies the localization and regulation of the glucocorticoid receptor in various cell types to improve understanding of its function in vivo.
