Summary

Mesra Ebadi is a postbaccalaureate fellow in the Muscle Disease Section at NIAMS. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Barnard College in 2024, where she majored in environmental biology and minored in science, policy, and ethics. For her thesis research, Mesra worked at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, studying the role of the Fanconi anemia DNA repair pathway in the pathogenesis of squamous cell carcinoma. Mesra has also conducted research on in vitro disease modeling in cancer research, environmental health and engineering, as well as transcriptomics to study the biopathology of disease.

Mesra began at the NIH in 2025 as a postbaccalaureate fellow. Previously, she worked as a research technologist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. 

Research Statement

Mesra’s research focus combines basic science and translational research. She investigates the mechanisms of myositis pathogenesis through RNA sequencing and cell-based assays, while exploring novel treatments in patient-derived systems.
