Summary
Maia Pohlhaus graduated from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Health, Medicine, and Society. Beginning her research journey in a molecular/cellular lab as an undergraduate, she has studied genetic and molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of chronic illnesses and their applications for translational work. In addition to research, she has worked in social justice advocacy and on health disparities.
Maia spent two consecutive summers researching for the American Cancer Society at the University of Maryland Medical School and as an AMGEN scholar at Howard University. She researched the pathogenesis of ovarian cancer, diabetes, and Hepatitis C.
