Emily Rosenbaum, B.A.

Summary

Emily Rosenbaum graduated from Clark University with a B.A. in Biology, a concentration in Bioinformatics, and a minor in Computer Science. She conducted undergraduate research in Dr. Nathan Ahlgren’s lab, exploring the genomic diversity of Thaumarcheotal species by producing a phylogenetic tree based on the species’ common genes. In this lab, Emily also built a pipeline to process the ITS regions of Synechococcus genomic sequences. In addition, she researched the mechanism and function of toxin-antitoxin systems in Synechococcus. Emily was a summer intern at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in the Fungal Genomics Group, where she helped process Candida auris patient samples, generate a phylogenetic tree, and search for genetic mutations associated with fungus strong drug resistance.

Research Statement

Emily is researching Still’s disease using bioinformatics tools and analyses, focusing on the rare genetic variants associated with the disease.
