Eman Bamashmous, MBBS, FAAP, is a pediatric rheumatology clinical research fellow at NIH/NIAMS and Children’s National Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Batterjee Medical College for Sciences and Technology in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Bamashmous completed her first pediatric residency at Sidra Medicine/Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, followed by a second pediatric residency at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Michigan, where she served as Pediatric Chief Resident in her final year. She is passionate about clinical research focused on improving outcomes for children with rheumatic diseases.

Research Statement

Dr. Bamashmous is part of the Natural History and Pathogenesis of Spondyloarthritis study team, focusing on patients with Juvenile Spondyloarthritis (JSpA). A significant component of her research involves applying bedside quantitative sensory testing (QST) to characterize pain phenotypes in youth with JSpA, to identify objective sensory processing patterns that may distinguish inflammatory pain from centralized or amplified pain.
