Summary
Abby Tang, B.A., completed her undergraduate studies in biology at Washington University in St. Louis in 2026. In 2023, she worked in Dr. Eric Galburt’s lab studying transcription regulation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. From 2024 to 2026, she worked in Dr. Fumihiko Urano’s lab, characterizing the progression of Wolfram syndrome and other WFS1-related disorders and screening drug compounds against patient-derived neural progenitor cells to identify potential therapies. Abby joined NIAMS in 2026 as a postbaccalaureate fellow and works in Dr. Luis M. Franco’s lab.
Research Statement
Abby’s research is focused on studying the function and regulation of the glucocorticoid receptor, looking at protein interactions that influence binding to DNA in the presence of glucocorticoid.
