NIAMS Alum Appointed Chairman of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at Kyoto University

The NIAMS congratulates Professor Akio Morinobu on his appointment as Chairman of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at Kyoto University, Japan. Professor Morinobu was a postdoctoral fellow in the NIAMS from 2000 to 2003, where he was one of the first to study immune responses induced by cytokines such as interferon-gamma, and molecular signaling that controls interferon production. In 2003, he returned to Kobe University, Japan, where he continued to build a career leading to his appointment at Kyoto University.
