NIAMS Director Lindsey A. Criswell joined NIH Director Monica Bertagnolli and other NIH leaders at the White House as President Joe Biden signed an Executive Order (EO) announcing new actions to advance women’s health research and innovation. The EO, signed on March 18, 2024, will:

  • Integrate women's health across the federal research portfolio;
  • Prioritize investments in women's health research;
  • Galvanize new research on women's midlife health; and
  • Help assess unmet needs to support women's health research.

This coordinated NIH-wide effort will be co-chaired by the NIH Office of the Director, the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health, and the institute directors from NIAMS; the National Institute on Aging; the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; the National Institute on Drug Abuse; and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
