Meghan Nelson, D.O., received her medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017. She then completed her Pediatric Residency at the Medical College of Georgia in 2020 followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology at Emory in 2023. Following her clinical fellowship, in 2023 Dr. Nelson joined the Genomics of Autoimmune Rheumatic Disease Section (GARDS) Lab at the National Human Research Genome Institute (NHGRI) under Dr. Lindsey Criswell as a NIAMS Lawrence Schulman Scholar in Translational Research.

Research Statement

Dr. Nelson’s research aims to examine the contribution of rare and low frequency variants to development of SLE as well as the role of rare and low frequency variants in the clinical heterogeneity observed in patients of different ancestral backgrounds with SLE.
