Savannah Barkdull is a recent graduate of the University of the Virginia, where she earned a Bachelors of Science in biology and a minor in bioethics. She is applying to medical schools with a planned matriculation in 2018. 
As a postbaccalaureate fellow in the Cutaneous Development and Carcinogenesis Section, Ms. Barkdull applies her expertise in mouse genetics to support multiple research programs in the Brownell lab. Her own research investigates the role of Hedgehog signaling in the development and regulation of the skin and skin cancer.
