Summary

Andrew received his B.S. in Biochemistry from Temple University (Philadelphia, PA) in 2012 and his Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, and Cancer Biology from Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia, PA) in 2018. During his graduate training in the lab of Dr. Mỹ Mahoney, he studied how cell-cell adhesion complex components interfaced with deregulated cellular signaling cascades to alter malignant progression in the skin. Additionally, Andrew investigated how these same interwoven adhesion components and signaling cascades contributed to wound healing in the healthy, non-malignant skin. Pursuing his interest in cutaneous wound healing, he joined the lab of Dr. Maria Morasso in the Fall of 2018. Using molecular biological techniques, murine studies, and various NGS techniques from in vivo and in vitro sources, he will attempt to elucidate how the oral epithelium rapidly employs a regeneration program in response to tissue damage versus the slower repair program employed by the skin.
