Amit Patel completed his B.S. in Chemistry at Temple University, where he spent time at the Center for Computational Genetics and Genomics. He worked on developing Python scripts to compare archaic human genomes to modern-day humans. Amit has also spent multiple years tutoring chemistry courses. After completing his computational work, he joined a translational lab to learn how research discoveries are applied to clinical scenarios.
Amit is researching the rare bone disease melorheostosis using iPSCs and patient-derived osteoblasts. He is currently studying whether cell signaling occurs between cells in bone that contribute to the pathophysiology of the disease. Additionally, he uses his coding experience to analyze health databases to find trends in musculoskeletal conditions.
