Research Core Centers
Updated December 2012
NIAMS-funded Research Core Centers (P30) provide shared facilities and services to groups of established, currently funded investigators addressing scientific problems in tissues and diseases of interest to the NIAMS. Their goal is to improve efficiency, accelerate the pace of research, and ensure greater productivity. A strong biomedical research base is the prerequisite for establishment of a Core Center and an important component in considering continued funding of an established center. The components of a Core Center include two or more research cores, an administrative core, and an enrichment program.
NIAMS funds Research Core Centers in each of its three mission areas:
- Musculoskeletal biology and medicine (funded through RFA-AR-08-003 and RFA-AR-11-011)
- Rheumatic diseases (funded through RFA-AR-11-001 and RFA-AR-12-002)
- Skin biology and diseases (funded through RFA-AR-08-002 and RFA-AR-11-010)
